Due to the interest shown in the images of the demolition of Marrable House and the history of the House, here are a collection of photos taken during the construction of Heron Gate. Heron Gate is a development of 53 apartments by Weston Homes on the site of Marrable House.
The photo gallery has been divided in two to make viewing easier - the 2017 collection is available here.
Following the demolition there was still a lot of debris on site to be removed.
Then the groundworks could begin in earnest.
... and continued through the month.
... and so to the start of piling. (Think that's what they call this process, but hey I'm no expert!)
Great fun watching the foundations being poured. (Wonder why this isn't as popular a viewing pastime as the demolition?)
All in All - it's just another brick in the wall!
Brick by Brick the walls start to rise and the true shape of the outline starts to emerge.
Very little obvious progress during October and November amidst local rumours of issues with the underground streams. However it might simply have been a case of waiting for the steel fabrications to arrive. Now that they have appeared on site and started to be erected, it looks as if some more monthly progress reports will be in order.
Visible signs of progress appearing as Christmas approaches. Bases concreted. Brickwork progressing, especially on the two-storied section nearest to Maldon Road. How much longer will it take? Completion is currently scheduled for 1st quarter of 2018
